What was the response from nearby countries?
The first country to help support Christchurch after the massive earthquake was Australia. The Australian Government was hugely generous and donated 6.7 million NZD to the red cross appeal.
Followed by the New South Wales local Government donating 1.3 million NZD For the victims of the Christchurch earthquake
Christchurch did not just receive massive amounts of monetary donations from countries all around the world. The Japanese Government sent over sixty Japanese USAR members, plus they sent a pack of search and rescue dogs to help search for people buried under rubble.
